On July 19, 1979 Lois was abducted from the "J's Nite Owl convenience store in Fort Smith Arkansas where she had worked for a short period of time. Lois was last seen by two little girls buying gum at approximately 6:45 pm. At 7:00 pm a customer called police to report that there was no clerk at the store and the property was unsecured. Police found the register open and all the paper money was gone. On July 28, 1979, Lois body was found off Treece Rd and Highway 71 in the Rye Hill area, near Fort Smith.
Lois was shot with a .38 cal gun at the location where she was found. Her glasses were found around the body and her wallet was still in her pocket. Lois was in an accelerated state of decomposition leading police to estimate her time of death as the evening of the 19th or early the 20th. No other evidence was found around her body.
