21 year old, Jason Franks went missing on August 10, 2001 from a campsite North of Chiloquin, Oregon while camping with 5 others, 2 who were longtime friends. The group claims they left Jason alone at the campsite earlier in the day and when they returned in the early evening, Jason was gone. The weather was clear that day and the campers had been at the site for 2-3 days.

The campsite is located on Federal land previously held by local Native Americans. The campsite was about 10 miles east of Hwy 97 & Silver Lake Rd junction. Police believe that there may have been other campers in the area.

Law Enforcement believes that foul play is involved in Jason's disappearance and Three law enforcement agencies are cooperating with each other in the investigation; The FBI, the Alturas Police in California and the Klamath Falls Police in Oregon.
